Hailing from the city of Chicago (and a few of the burbs), Veilside in its' current form has been a force on the Chicago music scene since 2006. Combining influences from across the musical spectrum, Veilside is a modern melodic rock band in the vein of their influences  Shinedown, Black Stone Cherry, and some of the "hair band " era mixed in. In March 2009, the band was named "Best Original Band" by Suburban Nitelife Magazine. Their first EP, "Chapter One" was released in 2008 and to date has sold over 4000 copies. Not resting on their laurels, Veilside once again entered the studio to begin recording a much more ambitious CD titled "This Time..." with producer Chuck Alkazian (Slipknot, Elton John, Cristina Aguilera) at Pearl Sound Studios which was released in 2011. The CD featured 5 new Veilside originals and their popular hard rock cover of the Kansas mega-hit "Dust in the Wind". In May 2013, the band decided to work with Subclass Studios in Chicago to record their highly anticipated 3rd EP "Meanwhile..." which was released in Sept 2013.  The band also worked with producer Joe Tiberi (Mechina) on an acoustic EP titled "Intermission" was released in September 2015.   In 2017, the band went yet again to Apothica Studios to release their first full-length album "Eclipse".  Veilside also won the 2011 "Bandemonium" hosted by 95 WIIL Rock (Kenosha) FM Radio, and has shared the stage with many notable national acts including current powerhouses Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm, Alter Bridge, Hinder, and Black Stone Cherry, to classic rock acts like Dokken, Nelson, Great White, Sebastian Bach, Warrant, Skid Row, and Lita Ford. Veilside is a very strong supporter of children's charities, having donated time and money to the Kelsey Briggs Foundation Against Child Abuse, Headstones for Angels, and the National SIDS Organization, as well as hosts the annual "Breaking the Silence" Autism Awareness benefit show which raises funds for autism awareness.  Now going on its TENTH year, the event has raised over $116,000 for the cause!

It's been an AMAZING run......

After a VERY rough week, we were happy to see all of the folks that made it to Bob’s service this past weekend.  Saying goodbye to our brother was absolutely soul crushing, and it was clear to us that an era of our lives had ended with Bob’s passing.   Last year we took a “hiatus” that we thought would be final because of Bob’s health, and then we got offered our dream gig – on stage at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood that MANY of history’s biggest acts have graced. A club so legendary that it was enough to bring Bob back out and into the “Hiatus Tour”, since he wanted to play there more than anything. He got so excited he tried to book some thirty shows and we had to constantly remind him that we were going LIGHT!! With that in mind, we’re convinced we HAVE to play that show or he’d be awfully pissed at us. But we also know that Bob was a serious driving force behind this band, so with heavy hearts we are announcing that our “Hiatus Tour” is coming to an end, and with that, our run as VEILSIDE has as well.  It has been an absolute honor for us to entertain so many people around the country for many years, and we’ve been given opportunities that we hadn’t even dreamed about. Thanks to everyone who has made this band of nobodies into something we’ve been extremely proud to be a part of. And while Veilside is saying goodbye, I’m sure at some point you’ll see a few of us pop up in new projects, We also understand the finality of this particular one, and while we ARE sad about that, we go out knowing we were at one point among the biggest original bands in Chicagoland (such as the scene is). Some quick answers – YES, there WILL be a Breaking the Silence 12 in April 2020. We will continue to host the event. NO, we don’t want a new bass player to continue on with Veilside. It would be so foreign to us that it wouldn’t be worth doing. NO we will not be playing Sugar Skull this weekend on Sept 23rd, but a few of us will be there in support of LYNCH and BONESHAKER since they’ve been gracious enough to keep the show, and YES, we are doing a farewell show - three of them, in fact, as listed below:

Dec 14th – MT Barrells, Schuamburg, IL (Our final “home” show and tribute to Bob “Cabo” Hilton)

Jan 17th – Whisky A Go Go, Hollywood, CA

Feb 15th – The Music Factory, Battle Creek, MI

Please come out and let us thank you in person for all of the support you’ve given us – Tony, Ron, Russ, & Sharon

Still chuggin' along....

So our ELEVENTH Breaking the Silence took place in April, and we raised almost another $25,000 for the cause!   We're also pretty excited that we picked up a matinee show with one of our favorite artists - Mr. Jack Russell's Great White on Sunday August 18th at Basecamp in Lisle.  The show is ALL AGES and the tickets are $25.   Veilside will be playing a long set in front of Jack, so don't miss it!!  If you're interested, the tickets will be made available on the STORE tab of our website SOON!!

Kicking off 2019 in style......

So the bass player gets a clean bill of health, and the band kicks off the year opening for Y&T at the Arcada Theater, one of the best venues in the Midwest to play.   Plans on getting some new music out - probably not a new disc, but a single or two (or three)!!   We're excited to be back at it, and we thank all of our friends and fans for sticking around!   Next up for us....our ELEVENTH annual Breaking the Silence Autism Awareness Fundraiser Concert.   Here's a shot of last weekend's show with Y&T.

It's been a FANTASTIC ride.......

It's been awhile since we updated!!   It's been a wonderful 2018 - we've seen and played many places this year.  The feedback has always been incredible!!  So it's with a bit of sadness to announce that we're going on a hiatus.  As we've done this for over a decade, and seen some amazing places and met many wonderful people along the way, we're taking some down time for a bit.  What that means at present, is unclear.  A few of us will undoubtedly want to soldier on, and a few of us might want to retire and kick back for the first time in years.   Tony and Ron have signed with BLAST!  Media and will be doing some songs for film and television, the first to be released later in November under the name "Honor Amongst Theives"  (No, this is NOT a new band - just a studio project but since the music differs so much from Veilside, we felt we couldn't release it under the VS name).   Sharon helped out on this first tune as well, and wrote one of the sweetest riffs for it.  Russ and Bob are looking forward to some serious R&R.  So at some point, the band may reconstitute, pick up and take another go at it, or reform in some fashion, or we may decide the peace and quiet is just too much to pass up!   Either way, our fans have been nothing short of amazing.   You guys supported us over a decade through 5 commercial releases, a few lineup changes, etc.  And we are truly humbled for it.   Thanks to everyone who has worked to make this band something - from the shirt printer to the flyer maker, to the fill-ins while we scrambled for a replacement (John Craig and David Shankle were both amazing professionals!).   We are so grateful for everyone's help.   Our last show of the year is November 17th at Q Bar in Glendale Heights.   No opening act.   Veilside for 3 hours straight, so we can thank you for everything ourselves.   We'll leave everything we have on the stage one more time.  Hope to see you there, and THANK YOU so much!!

BTS 10 Raises over $26,000!!

Our TENTH annual Breaking the Silence concert was just this past Sunday, April 29th.  We were honored that our friends in BOBAFLEX would join us for a short acoustic set on their way to another gig!   Thanks to the over 500 attendees at the show, we raised just over $26,000 for autism awareness, and that brings our ten year total to over $142,000!!   We're going to meet with Chicago Autism Resource & Education (CARE) about selecting a recipient(s) for this year's total in a few weeks, but THANK YOU to everyone who helped out, attended, or even donated.   If YOU want to help you can donate as well at www.vsbts.org and help the charity for a wonderful cause!!

Wrapping up a fantastic 2017.......

We're wrapping up a fantastic 2017 - the feedback on our latest work, "Eclipse" has been fantastic and we're extremely proud it being so well-received.  We have 3 shows for December, our first being our first trip on Dec 1st (that's a lot of firsts!) to the Arcada Theater to share the stage with FIREHOUSE and WINGER.   A sold out crowd and we absolutely loved the response!   We're in Sturtevant, WI on Dec 9th with our friends in ELECTRIC REVOLUTION and then at HOME Bar in Arlington Heights, IL for our end of the year Christmas jam with our good friends JAAX and POP MACHINE.  We hope YOU have had a great year as well, and we hope you'll come out to a show to see us soon!!

Don't forget, you can order YOUR copy of "Eclipse" at all online retailers (for digital downloads), or you can go to the STORE tab right here on our website and order the hard copy (for those that still love CDs) and if you put it in the notes, we're happy to autograph the copy for you!!

Looking forward to 2018!!

Here's a shot from our Dec 1st show at the Arcada Theater

Eclipse is released!!

Saturday we kicked off the first of TWO CD release parties for our first full length disc, "Eclipse".  Thanks to our friends in PIPE and PROFITS OF METAL for joining us on the occasion, and thanks to many of our friends within the Chicago music scene for coming out and helping us!   On Oct 7th, we head to our "second home" at The Music Factory in Battle Creek, MI and we're bringing our friends in SHOKKER with us as well as good friends SXX from the area.   On Oct 9th you can order your own copy of "Eclipse"  right here from our website!!   Stay tuned!   A few shots of the CD release show:

It's Official!

So we've been buried in the studio working on our 5th commercial release, and FIRST full-length disc called ECLIPSE!!

And like the namesake, this past Monday we released a sneak peek of one of the tracks called WASH, RINSE, REPEAT on YouTube (Seriously - go check it out!!).   The CD will be officially released on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th at TAILGATERS in Bolingbrook, IL.   Pre-orders will begin soon!!   More info as we get closer!

Last weekend we took the stage at ROCKFEST in Cadott, WI.  What a blast!!   It was hot, humid, the air so thick it was hard to catch our breath.   But the fantastic crowd willed us through that performance, and we were extremely honored by the kind words after our set.  To all that stopped by, it was a pleasure to meet you!!  Cadott is a special place, this was our second year at the festival and we hope we're invited back for a third year!!  Also on the bill with us was HELLYEAH, MEGADETH, SHINEDOWN, ROB ZOMBIE, and more!!

Home stretch......

So we're entering the homestretch on the tracking of our upcoming CD (as yet untitled, although we have kicked around a few ideas).   And in order to maintain our progress, our show calendar will be light for a few months so we have time to get all the work in.  We did however, get back downstate after quite some time of not making the trip down there and had a fantastic time at a club called Winner's Lounge in Bloomington, IL.

(Veilside at Winner's Lounge May 6th, 2017)

Next up for us is another show with a cause near and dear to our hearts as we have been asked to be the entertainment at this year's Little Angel's Pledge Run at the Woodstock Harley Davidson on Sunday May 21st.    If you can, join us and help us raise money for a great cause!!
