Veilside
Welcome

Hailing from the suburbs of Chicago, Veilside in its' current form has been a force on the Chicago music scene since 2006.  Combining influences from across the musical spectrum, Veilside is a modern melodic rock band in the vein of their influences Nickelback, Shinedown, and Black Stone Cherry.  In March 2009, the band was named "Best Original Band" by Suburban Nitelife Magazine.  Their first EP, "Chapter One" was released in June of 2008 and to date has sold over 3000 copies.  Not resting on their laurels, Veilside once again entered the studio to begin recording a much more ambitious CD titled "This Time..." with producer Chuck Alkazian (Slipknot, Elton John, Cristina Aguilera) at Pearl Sound Studios for release in March 2011.  The CD features 5 new Veilside originals and their popular hard rock cover of the Kansas mega-hit "Dust in the Wind".  Veilside is a very strong supporter of children's charities, having donated time and money to the Kelsey Briggs Foundation Against Child Abuse, The Autism Society of Illinois, Headstones for Angels, and the National SIDS Organization, as well as hosts the annual "Breaking the Silence" autism benefit show now going on it's fourth year.

Veilside is:

Tony Engel          - Lead Vocals
Russ Odean          - Guitars & Vocals
Mo Ismail          - Guitars & Vocals
Bob "Cabo" Hilton   - Bass
Ron Thomas           - Drums, Percussion, & Vocals

5/15/12

Well we've had a wild few weeks.......first, we did a little nostalgia show for Tony while we opened for Jack Russell's Great White at the end of April.  Tony's first band, ASC opened for Great White on a series of shows so it was nice to come "full circle".  And while Great White has moved on with a new singer, Jack Russell was INCREDIBLE!!  He put together a great show, and then hung around afterwards to meet and greet every fan at Tailgaters.  It was also the first national act that new guitarist Mo Ismail had opened for......and Mo loved the crowd!!  Here's a shot of the band from the stage right after the set from Paul, who does all photography for Tailgaters:

Then we followed that incredible show up with our 4th annual Breaking the Silence show, which beat our previous high of $5000, this show raised just short of $9000 for the Autism Society of Illinois!!  Here's a shot of lead singer Tony Engel, who won some fierce bidding to land the display for the event, which was signed by all of the bands that helped out.  Thanks to everyone for such a successful event, and we hope to make it even BIGGER next year!!

Finally, the band has been off doing some writing so we can bring new songs and a new show !!   Make sure you check out our show calendar for our schedule, but our next show is another benefit.....this time to raise money for our Wounded Warriors......the US Veterans!!  The VET FEST is in Waukegan over 2 days, with VEILSIDE playing on the first day.  Please consider making your way out there for a great cause, and see some great bands!!  Lots more happening......hope to see everyone SOON!!

4/9/12

We had a GREAT time out in Michigan this past weekend....kicked it off with a return to PLANET ROCK in Battle Creek, then on Saturday had our first show at ULI'S HAUS OF ROCK in Lansing.  What a great time, made some new friends, and some new fans!! (and that's what it's all about!)  Since we're into April, fans of VEILSIDE know what time it is (3 to 5? LOL).........it's BREAKING THE SILENCE TIME!!  VEILSIDE proudly hosts our 4th annual Breaking the Silence - an ALL AGES show to raise money for the Autism Society of Illinois.   This year, you can PRE-ORDER tickets and save money versus the door.  Just go to www.tix4cause.com and type in VEILSIDE (choose Illinois for the state) and you can purchase your tix in advance and save some money!!  ONE HUNDRED PERCENT of the proceeds goes to the society...........the bands, the clubs, and our incredible sponsors donate everything so that there is no "take a cut" from ANYONE- the money is for the cause.....one very near and dear to us!

Please note that this show is ALL AGES and is presented in a family atmosphere.   Last year we raised $5000 for the Autism Society of Illinois, and this year we intend to do even better!!  Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out with this event each year!!

3/23/12

Things are moving here at "Camp Veilside".  The band is settling new guitarist Mo Ismal in after a successful first show, and we've started to get more shows booked, including what promises to be a good one.....a return to one of our favorite venues.....TAILGATERS in Bolingbrook!!  Bob Z, the owner has asked us to jump on board as the support act for Jack Russell's GREAT WHITE.  Jack had some health scares last year and had Jani Lane (RIP) of Warrant fill in for him on lead vocals while he healed up, but all the reports say JACK IS BACK!!  So come out on April 21st to see Captain Jack Russell and GREAT WHITE!!

Before we play that show, however, we're taking the show on the road to visit our favorite out-of-state club.....PLANET ROCK in Battle Creek, Michigan on Friday April 6th, and a new club for us, ULI'S HAUS OF ROCK in Lansing, Michigan on Saturday April 7th.  So if you're from that area, come check us out!!

We love being on stage, looking forward to it.......

3/20/12

So it's time to THINK SPRING!!  Although with the weather, you'd think we were in the middle of summer.....but who could complain about 80 degree days....IN MARCH!!??

We had a great time celebrating Saint Patz with our fans and friends at Shark City.  A nice first show for Mo.  Next we take the show on the road for a pair of dates in Michigan before we bring it back home!

Yes.....that's Tony in a kilt (shudder).........

We'll have info up on our April shows, including a return to the city, BREAKING THE SILENCE 4, and another national act!!

Stay tuned.......

2/22/12

So we took time from rehearsals last night to get our new EPK filmed, thanks to Kevin at Hitsquad Productions!  Check them out, they do AWESOME video work!!  (Check out their site in the "LINKS" section!).  Kevin also snapped the first band photo with the new lineup, so check it out!!

Looking forward to getting on stage again soon!!

2/14/12

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!!  Give that special someone of yours an extra squeeze today!  If you don't have a special someone at the moment, know that VEILSIDE shows are a GREAT place to meet people!! ;)

Okay, so we had targeted St. Patty's Day for Mo's first show, but sometimes opportunity knocks and you have to take it, so while we're still headlining that show, we've also picked up an opening slot for Brother Cane at City Limits in Schaumburg on March 3rd alongside our good friends in LYNCH.  So it appears THIS show will be Mo's first full set with Veilside (no pressure, brotha!).

So come on out to see what promises to be a good time!  Tix are $15 and available at the door.  We know this is short notice, but we hope to see some of our fans out there!  If not, make sure you're heading to Shark City on March 17th for Ron's Birthday bash!!

Also, for our fans up in Michigan, we'll be out your way SOON!!  April 6th, we'll be at PLANET ROCK in Battle Creek, MI followed by our first ever trip to Lansing, MI to play ULI'S HAUS OF ROCK the next night!  Our friends in SLAM BANG are going to jump on the road with us so we hope to see you guys out!!

Take care of each other!!

2/3/12

Great news!!  Veilside has signed a distribution deal with Island/Def Jam Records to handle the electronic distribution of "This Time...." so you can pick up a copy of our critically acclaimed CD TODAY on I-Tunes and many other digital outlets!!  Island/Def Jam Records will also be handling both the physical distribution and the digital for our next recording (not until 2013!!) but we are excited to be partnered up with a great label!  So please pick up your favorite song from "This Time..." or go ahead and buy the whole CD!!

In the meantime, we're getting our new guitar player Mo Ismail up to speed and ready for our next show.....a St. Patty's Day bash (and drummer Ron Thomas' b-day! party!!) at one of our favorite clubs, Shark City in Glendale Heights.  So come out and have some green beer with us!!
See you 'round......

1/31/12

So February is almost already upon us?  We just got back from NAMM!!  And what a great time!  We'll put up some of the pics from NAMM that we didn't post on our Facebook account as well as pics from our Jan 28th show that featured a return on guitar from JON BADALAMENTI, as well as the first glimpse of the new guitar player for Veilside, MO ISMAIL.  Mo has played in a few cover bands of late, and was also a member of Raine at one time with our very own RUSS ODEAN.  We welcome Mo Ismail to the Veilside family!!

So look for new pics up in the pictures section later this week, we just added some video, and some big news in the next day or two!!  But here, check out this shot of Jose Mangin from Octane, on Sirius XM Radio interviewing Veilside at the Dean Guitars Booth!!

1/16/12

Okay, so the band (sans new guy) is heading out to California this week for the annual NAMM Convention.  We look forward to this trip every year, since it gives us the opportunity to see friends, our sponsors, party a little, and hang out with some of our rock n' roll idols!!  This year, we've decided to make it a bit interactive, and we'll be sending VIDEO updates to our website!!  So stay tuned right here!!

In the meantime, don't forget we have a show coming up on Jan 28th!!  We've got a lot in store for this one, including the "UnVeiling" of our new guitar player!!

1/8/12

Well THAT'S how you start off a year!!  We kicked off 2012 to a fantastic crowd at the legendary Double Door in Chicago last night.  And this show had everything....rocked our fans, made some new ones, and made some new friends!  THANK YOU to everyone who either came out to see the show or watched it on GiggityTV.

A shot from last night's show:

So we think we're off to a great start!  But that's not all.....after several auditions, VEILSIDE has finally settled on our new guitarist!!  We've had John Craig III from LOVEBLAST filling in the past few shows so we could take our time.....and JC3 was nothing short of spectacular!  Complete showman and pro all the way around!!  We actually wanted him to keep the job, but John wants some time to plan out his next move, so with nothing but love, respect, and admiration Veilside says "THANK YOU!!"  Once John gets his next project working, look for him on stage with us sometime in the future!!

So who's the new guy?  We're not saying yet.....we want to get him acclimated to the "Veilside Way" and get him up to speed,  but we will say this....we'll be introducing him at our next show on January 28th at Chicago City Limits in Schaumburg.  And we have quite a few surprises in line for that show....including celebrating the birthday of a special member of the group who will be manning the lead guitar duties that night (hint hint)

So we think we're up and running.....looking to make 2012 the best year for VEILSIDE yet!

1/3/12

Well here we go with another year of VEILSIDE!!  This ride has been awesome....and we're not done yet!!  We also recognize that many of our fans and friends have struggled this past year with the bad economy.  Hang in there.....we know it's easier said than done, but things seem to be getting better!  With that in mind, we here at "Camp VS" wish you the very best that 2012 can bring.....and if it IS the last year (those Mayans!!)....we're happy you're spending a part of it with us!! ;)

We've also got a very busy January planned out!  We've had some auditions for a new permanent member of VS and we hope to have some news on this pretty soon!  In the meantime, we've also booked a few shows........

We're playing January 7th at the famous DOUBLE DOOR in Chicago with friends Man the Mighty, 5 Step Drop, and Sand.  This is going to be a great show and we hope to see you there!!

After that, the band will be heading to California for the annual NAMM Convention to meet with our sponsors, hang with other rockstars, and see whatever trouble we can get ourselves into.  There will also be a few acoustic sets out in Anaheim!

And finally, VEILSIDE returns to Chicago City Limits in Schaumburg on Saturday January 28th.  We have some BIG surprises in store for this one, so make sure you save the date!!

11/30/11

Can you believe it's going to be DECEMBER tomorrow?  What the?  It seems like we just celebrated Halloween last weekend!!  So, we had an AMAZING show at Tailgater's opening for the legendary Ms Lita Ford.....the crowd was incredible!  Don't believe us?  Check THIS out!:

That's a view from over the shoulder of Mr. John Craig....who is filling in on guitar for the band!!

Anyway, we've got one more show to wrap up our 2011 season, which has been the best that Veilside has ever had.....and as anyone who knows the band knows....we're BIG fans of the band SHINEDOWN.  Nope, we didn't get an opening slot for them, but we got the next best thing!!  We will be playing with Shinedown's very own ZACH MYERS....who is doing a "SOUL-LOW Club Tour" at Penny Road on December 10th alongside WAYLAND (They're good, check 'em out!!) and our friends in LYNCH.  Tickets are only $15 but you can get yours discounted by contacting the band!!

And after jammin' with Zach, the band will once again gear up for the NAMM Convention in Anaheim, CA in January.   Stay tuned for more news!!

10/19/11

Told ya the train would keep rolling!!  We're very happy to announce that our November show will feature a new VEILSIDE original, TWO new covers, and one new guitarist!  So for our Chicago-based fans, make your way to Tailgater's in Bolingbrook on Friday, November 18th as VEILSIDE heats the stage for the legendary Mrs. Lita Ford!!

Tony's going to try his hardest to see if he can sing Ozzy's part on "Close My Eyes Forever" , at least during the soundcheck!!  Maybe there will be some video footage of that to come......but either way, you don't want to miss this show!!

10/10/11

Wow, this year has seen a lot of ups and downs (and it’s not even over yet!!) From releasing our critically acclaimed “This Time…” in March, to winning the Bandemonium contest in July, to playing the biggest show of our music careers at Rock the Ranch in August. And the "downs"…..they’ve been there too…..from seeing some of our friends’ bands leave the scene, to the loss of one of best sound guys around, to this……

It comes with no joy to report that lead guitarist, Jon Badalamenti, has made the difficult decision to leave Veilside. No, it’s not one of those “artistic differences” things or whatever BS bands come up with to save public face. Jon has gotten recently engaged, and wants to start a family, and believes that he won’t be able to continue with the busy touring schedule Veilside likes to keep. He’s still going to be a behind-the-scenes player in Veilside for the near future, and while we are sad to see him go, we understand and respect the difficult decision he has made. Jon has been an integral part of Veilside since 2004. He has also realized many of his music goals, and felt he’d be leaving on a high note. Jon will always be our brother, and we wish him only the best that life brings....

As for us…..we’re not stopping this train. We’ve got it covered...and we’re going to continue to make quality hard rock as Veilside does. We’ve often prided ourselves in not having any turnover in the band in the five years of our current run. With a new guitar player, we realize that there will be a slight change in direction for the band. For fans of Veilside, understand that the guitarist we seek will only expand on what we’re already bringing to the table, and make Veilside even better. That will be a tall order, of course….because we think Jon Badalamenti is among the best guitarists in Chicago-land.

So come on out to see this version of Veilside on Saturday, October 22nd at a new club, The Come Back Inn in Franklin Park with our good friends  LYNCH.. Veilside will be sending Jon off in style….a tribute to our friend, co-conspirator, and co-collaborator!! And look for the “new” Veilside to bring a new show out on November 18th….and this one is going to be great!

Stay tuned…….

9/13/11

Well, we wish we could tell how great everything is in Veilside-land, but today was an extremely rough day.  We lost a dear friend - Mike Topousis of MST Sound.  Mike was the sound man at Chicago City Limits, and a good friend of the band.  Whenever Veilside took a show on a day he wasn't working (Friday and Saturday nites) Mike would come out, criticize the sound guy.....and be a genuine fan.  Mike left us way too soon, and will be missed.  RIP, friend!!

The entire Chicago music scene lost one of the best in the biz.  Mike was a musician in his early years, and brought that same passion to making other bands sound as professional as possible.  He was a great guy, a big fan of the band's, and we'll miss him......

8/9/11

So we're getting ready for the big show - WIIL Rock the Ranch!!  Before we do though, we'd like to give a big THANK YOU to our fans and friends that got us this opportunity.....people keep congratulating us, but we need to be congratulating YOU.  So to show our appreciation as only VEILSIDE knows how, we're playing a FREE show at Chicago City Limits in Schaumburg, IL - a special 2 set acoustic performance, no cover.  But that's not all.....one lucky fan is walking out with a pair of tickets to WIIL Rock the Ranch....and gets to see Alter Bridge, Hinder, Saliva, Theory of a Deadman, Five Finger Deathpunch, SOIL and much more.......including VEILSIDE.  So from the bottom of our hearts.....thanks.....and we hope to see you out there!!

7/27/11

And the winner is............VEILSIDE!!

After several weeks of draggin' our fans up to Kenosha each week in the 95 WIIL Rock Bandemonium competition, WE WON!!
Here's a couple of shots from that show!!

Fantastic turnout for the Final Round!!

Tim King from our very good friends SOIL gets ready to announce the winner.  Thanks to our new friends in Losing Scarlet, who also put up great crowds each week to advance to the finals......

And now you can add VEILSIDE to this impressive list!!  This is the concert event of the year, and we get to be a part of it, thanks to our awesome FANS AND FRIENDS!!  Huge thanks also go out to Stu and the Crew at 95.1 WIIL ROCK, The folks at the Brat Stop, and our friends from the local music scene who backed us - our brothers LYNCH, LOVEBLAST, and our very good friends in COUGAR, TNT CHICAGO, COVER DOGS, FULL TROTTLE CGO, LIFELIKE VIOLENCE, RANDOM X, 6 DEGREES OF SEPARATION (6DOS), DEADMANS WAKE, SKRUDE LOOSE, and even a few of our fellow competitors in SOUL SHAKER and CEREBOCA.

7/18/11

ONE MORE TIME!!  VEILSIDE has made THE FINALS of the 95 WIIL Rock Bandemonium competition!!  The show is this Friday, July 22nd at the legendary Brat Stop in Kenosha, WI.  (Time is TBA - either 9:45 or 10:45pm).  The winner of this show will play WIIL Rock The Ranch with Alter Bridge, Theory of a Deadman, Hinder, SOiL, Saliva, Five Finger Death Punch, Crossfade, Black Stone Cherry, and much more!!  We need to call out favors from everyone - this Friday, we need ALL our fans and friends out at The Brat Stop one last time so we can win this thing!!

Last week's show by the way.....was a GREAT time!! (And all those balloons!!) So what do you say we do it ONE MORE TIME!!

And Finally......

THANKS TO 95.1 WIIL ROCK FOR THE AWESOME OPPORTUNITY!!

7/1/11

So we're STILL in this thing!!  What a testament to our friends and fans!  We have a few other shows coming up, but of course, now that we're in 95 WIIL Rock's "Top 3" for the Bandemonium competition, we want to WIN this!!  The winner gets to open "Rock the Ranch" with Theory of a Deadman, Black Stone Cherry, Saliva, Alter Bridge, Five Finger Death Punch, Crossfade, SOiL, and much more!!  How cool would that be??  So to all of our fans, we just need to pack the place TWO TIMES - Friday July 15th and if we advance, for the finals on Friday July 22nd.  Also, on July 30th Six Flags Great America has designated it "Autism Awareness Day" in the park, and VEILSIDE will be playing several sets throughout the day.  We hope you are all enjoying your summer and are happy you're spending at least a bit of it with us!!

6/22/11

And the train keeps rollin'!!  VEILSIDE has advanced to the next round of the 95 WIIL Rock's Bandemonium competition.  We are sad to see our friends in A.D.D. go, since they put on such a great show....but that's why they call it a competition.....someone has to go home (let's hope it's not US!!).  So Veilside is playing at 11pm at the legendary BRAT STOP in Kenosha on Friday June 24th.  We need ALL of our fans out to this one!!  Also, listen to 95 WIIL Rock on Friday morning to the Tom & Lisa show.....the radio station issued a challenge to the bands to cover "internet sensation" Rebecca Black's song "Friday".  Well, Veilside did a......uh......Veilside version of the song that will be played on the air.  You guys will have to tell us what you think!!

6/12/11

Veilside has ADVANCED in the Bandemonium competition......the next show is Thursday, June 16th at the legendary Brat Stop in Kenosha!!  As this is an eliminator....the lowest draw for the show goes home (although Top 5 out of the hundred or so bands who entered is nothing to sneeze at).  But we're not ready to go home yet!!  So if you can make it out.....Veilside takes the stage at 10pm!!

5/31/11

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!  Surprisingly, the band had the weekend off....so instead of rocking out, we had a barbeque at the drummer's house.....joined by friends from Uncle Junkie, Lynch, and Cougar!  Great times!!  And speaking of great times.....VEILSIDE was named to the Top 6 for this year's Bandemonium Contest sponsored by 95 WIIL Rock (Kenosha, WI).  We've advanced to Round 3, which is the live show round, so we need as many folks as we can get to The Brat Stop on Friday, June 10th to come out and support the band!  More details below:

The new CD "This Time..." continues to sell well, and our song "Along The Way" was featured on Virgin Airlines in-flight rock channel for the month of May (thanks to those guys!) and "Along the Way" was also the #7 requested song for the month of May with Armed Forces Radio.  We've been very excited about the response and we're convinced the best of Veilside is still yet to come!!

So be sure to check out the calendar, and see you at an upcoming show!!

4/18/11

WOW!  Breaking the Silence III saw a fantastic turnout, and raised $5,000 for the Illinois Autism Society!!  We are extremely pleased with the results of the event, and it just keeps getting bigger every year!!  THANK YOU!!  And we couldn't have done it without our very good friends in LYNCH, LOVEBLAST, and SEND IN THE CLONES (check those guys out on our LINKS page!!).  Also, big thanks to Carly Larson and The Caring Heart, Jeff Augustyn and Midwest Swiss Embroideries, Tony & Jackie Labarbera and the Chicago Rocker Newsletter, WKRS 1220 AM radio for the promotion (video of that interview is now up in our VIDEOS section!!), Sylvia Jensen and WORNSTAR CLOTHING and Phil Ryan's REVOLUTION IMAGES.

If you couldn't make it out......you can still donate to a very worthy cause!  Veilside is a strong supporter of chidren's charities, and we couldn't be prouder to have aligned ourselves with the Illinois Autism Society.  Donations can be made by visiting their website at:

www.autismillinois.org

So look for information on Breaking the Silence IV next year!!  We hope this event continues to get bigger!!

In Veilside news.....later this week, fans will be able to pick up their own copy of "This Time..." right here on the website!!  Thanks to our wonderful fans, we've already sold over 200 copies in just a few short weeks!!

Next up.....Veilside heads back to Chicago!!  Saturday May 14th at NiteCaps Lounge with LYNCH and SLAM BANG.  Look forward to seeing everyone there!!

Veilside and friends from LYNCH and LOVEBLAST celebrate with some of the kids at Breaking the Silence III:

4/4/11

THANK YOU to everyone who has given us such great feedback on the new CD, "This Time..."!!  We've been overwhelmed by the support!  Also, gotta send some big props to the guys in Circle II Circle, who put on a great show with us this past weekend!  Of course, now marks the beginning of April, which means our most important show is on the calendar:  The 3rd Annual BREAKING THE SILENCE to raise money for the Illinois Autism Society.  Once again, this year's show will be ALL AGES and features our very good friends LYNCH, LOVEBLAST, and SEND IN THE CLONES as well as VEILSIDE at AUSTIN'S FUEL ROOM - 481 Peterson Road Libertyville, IL 60048 on SUNDAY, APRIL 17th.  Door are at 12pm (NOON!), and will have raffles that could get you and autographed guitar among many other items!  So please, if you have the day free, bring the kids because this show is ALL AGES

3/26/11

Thanks to everyone who came out to help us celebrate the release of our new CD "This Time..."  last night at the newest hot spot for bands - BLUR NIGHTCLUB in Naperville.  Thanks to Paul and Mario at Blur for the hospitality and really making the club our home.  Any local bands should seriously consider playing there....what a fantastic venue!!

So we changed up the music player a bit.....and have added "Dust In the Wind" and "My Turn" from "This Time..." along with "Messin' Round" and "Awake" from "Chapter One".

Chapter One is available on I-tunes, and at Napster, Amazon, and a slew of other digital retailers.  "This Time..." will not be available via digital downloads for a couple of months since we really want to move as many of the CDs as we can, but fear not...."This Time..." WILL be available via downloads this summer!  Until then, look for our link where you can purchase "This Time...." right through our Veilside store on the website!!

From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU for the incredible support we've received!!

Tony - Jon - Ron - Russ - Cabo

Now that the CD is done, we're back to work on getting out and playing!  Our next show is Sat Feb 19th at Mojoe's in Joliet with our good friends Loveblast, and we're opening for Stephen Pearcy of RATT!!  This is a show you probably don't want to miss!

Also, the details are almost finalized on the 3rd annual "Breaking the Silence" benefit show!  Last year's event raised $3000 for the Illinois Autism Society, and while we're extremely proud of that.....we want to raise $5000 this year!  The event will take place on Sunday, April 17th at Austin's Fuel Room in Libertyville, IL and will once again be ALL AGES!!  Featured this year alongside Veilside is very good friends and "BTS" veterans (and recently signed to Sweet Sounds Management!) LYNCH, along with our friends LOVEBLAST, SEND IN THE CLONES and special guest to be announced very soon!!  Mark your calendars!!

Also, after the Super Bowl (can we say that...or do we have to call it the "Big Game"?) tune in to Rebel Access TV on Channel 19 for you Comcast users.  VEILSIDE is the featured artist on the show!  10pm.  Channel 19.  Veilside.......on Super Bowl Sunday.  It doesn't get much better than this!! (Unless VS was doing the halftime show or something!)

1/23/11

Well, recording has completed on the follow up to our successful debut EP "CHAPTER ONE"!!  The new disc is called "THIS TIME..." and we're excited about getting this into the hands of all of our fans and friends!  Stay tuned here for some sneak peek material in the coming weeks!  This new CD will be released very soon!  Unfortunately, the work we've put into this new endeavor has taken us out of the game a bit, but plans are in the making right now to get back on stage soon!  To everyone who has followed us on this journey, THANK YOU, and you WILL NOT be disappointed with the effort!!

11/23/10

We're still hard at work on our upcoming CD, and it looks like we are not going to be scheduling any shows for the rest of the year in an effort to get this completed.  Our next show is scheduled for January 1st (more details to come).  But as challenging a year as this has been for the Veilside family......we've also seen challenges across the board affect our friends and fans as well.  The economy has been brutal, and life sometimes decides to pee on us all.  We want to thank you all for the love and support you've given us over this past year.  We do this because we love it (it sure ain't for the money!!) and because of our fans, who push us to new limits.

With that in mind.......we'd like to wish you and yours a Happy Holiday Season.......more updates as we get closer to finishing the CD!!

10/25/10

Well, we've been busy on the CD, with stops to open the show for LA Guns in early October and then to play both nights of the biggest bash of the year - the Thirsty Whale Reunion 2K10.  We've added some new pics to check out from all 3 shows, so hit the pictures section!!

So we're back into hibernation working on the CD, which is going very well, but we simply don't want to rush this out!  We'll be out and about to see our friends bands' shows, but we have nothing booked at this time since it's hard to break everything down for a show, and then set it all back up again and re-mic everything so we can record.

If we don't make it back out in 2010.......THANK YOU for the support you've given Veilside this year!!  If we do....we'll let ya know!!

9/2/10

So when is this new CD coming out!?

In short, we're working on it!!  The CD is written, and we're in the middle of tracking.  But since we've gotten so many inquiries, we figured we'd put together a little graph and let you know where we are.  We are just about done with the drums.....then off to guitars and bass, and the vocals go last before we send the raw tracks to a different studio for mixing.  Here's the chart which we'll update as we get closer!! ;)

In the meantime....we're also getting ready for our next show!  We're FINALLY coming to the south suburbs!!  We're at Bobby McGee's in Chicago Ridge on Saturday, September 11th with our good friends in D'Molls, and Felon Love.  This should be a GOOD show!  So come out and hang out with us!

8/21/10

The show at Austin's last night was fantastic!  Thanks to SOiL for inviting us out and we just HAVE to do a show with them again sometime.  Thanks to everyone who came out for was an emotionally charged evening for us!  And after that show, we're back to work once again on the never-ending CD "This Time..."   Kidding of course, but with all that's happened to the band since we started this disc, seems like it's going to take forever (and a day!) to complete.  We'll keep you up to date as progress....uh......progresses ;)  In the meantime, we're working on a sneak peek video for one of the new songs "My Turn" so look for that soon here on our website!  Also, we'll be finally heading over to the south 'burbs to play a show next month....we're at Bobby McGee's in Chicago Ridge on Saturday, Sept 11th co-headlining with our very good friends in D'Molls.  Also on the bill is Illusions Fate and Felon Love.....this is a show not be missed!

8/13/10

Well Ron's son Justin came through his surgery just fine!  There's a long recovery ahead for him, but this is a huge step in the right direction!
Bieler Bros Recording Artists, SOiL asked us to come out and open for them next Friday at Austins Fuel Room in Libertyville.  After huddling the team, Ron says he is ready to go, so we're playing!!  This will be an emotionally charged show......and we apologize for the short notice....but make plans to BE THERE!!  Tickets are only $8 at Austin's Fuel Room in Libertyville on Friday August 20th.  This is one you won't want to miss!!

8/10/10

Well, things were going well for us here in Veilside-land....and then a little thing called "life" intrudes.  Today we mourn the passing of drummer Ron Thomas' dad.  He was a great guy and a big supporter of the band.  Everyone involved with the band wishes Ron's family the best.

But when it rains, it pours.  As everyone who follows the band knows, Ron's son Justin is afflicted with autism.  Each year, Veilside hosts "Breaking the Silence" to raise money for ALL children with autism by raising money for the Illinois Autism Society, part of the National Autism Awareness Foundation.  Justin also suffers from a rare epileptic disorder called Lennox–Gastaut syndrome, a disease that causes many type of seizures frequently throughout the day. The most worrysome of which is "drop seizures" which require him to wear a hockey helmet for his protection. The seizures have gotten worse and are resistant to all epileptic medications, so the doctors recommend that he have brain surgery to attempt to correct the problem. The surgery is set for mid August, with an expected recovery time of about 2 months.  With all of this going on around Ron, he put his family first, and has elected not to play the Cabo Wabo Cantina Show in Mexico.  Ron was also gracious enough to give the band a chance to get another drummer to do the show in his place.....

Except the band also puts our families first.....and Ron is family.  This band has ALWAYS been a family.  For that reason, we are cancelling (temporarily) the biggest opportunity the band had ever received (and Cabo's dream show!).  Carlos at the Cabo Wabo Cantina was very kind, and extended us an invitation to play the club any time the band is ready to make the trip.  We hope that Justin recovers quickly, and seizure-free.

We're going to take some time off from recording "This Time..." so Ron has one less thing to worry about, and then...
We'll keep our shows local for a bit so Ron can be near the family.  We WILL be playing the September 11th show at Bobby McGee;s in Chicago Ridge.  To the Thomas' clan.....we love you guys, hang in there.

Justin, get better soon, buddy!

7/2/10

Thanks to everyone who made it out to see us open for Nelson at Tailgaters over Memorial Day weekend.  How cool was that, seeing Matthew Nelson come up and introduce us at the show?  Matthew and Gunnar Nelson are two of the nicest people we've met since we started this ride.  Thanks to the folks at Tailgaters for inviting us to the party!

Listen for VEILSIDE on Tim Virgin's show on Q101 radio (101.1 FM Chicago) on Friday's from 3pm to 7pm.  Tim will be playing "Messin Round" from our debut EP, CHAPTER ONE.  They are also using the song for the "Rock to Cabo" contest commercial, so you can hear (a portion) of the song every day!  THANKS Q101
