Hailing from the city of Chicago (and a few of the burbs), Veilside in its' current form has been a force on the Chicago music scene since 2006. Combining influences from across the musical spectrum, Veilside is a modern melodic rock band in the vein of their influences Nickelback, Shinedown, and Black Stone Cherry. In March 2009, the band was named "Best Original Band" by Suburban Nitelife Magazine. Their first EP, "Chapter One" was released in 2008 and to date has sold over 4000 copies. Not resting on their laurels, Veilside once again entered the studio to begin recording a much more ambitious CD titled "This Time..." with producer Chuck Alkazian (Slipknot, Elton John, Cristina Aguilera) at Pearl Sound Studios which was released in 2011. The CD featured 5 new Veilside originals and their popular hard rock cover of the Kansas mega-hit "Dust in the Wind". In May 2013, the band decided to work with Subclass Studios in Chicago to record their highly anticipated 3rd EP "Meanwhile..." which was released in Sept 2013.  Veilside also won the 2011 "Bandemonium" hosted by 95 WIIL Rock (Kenosha) FM Radio, and has shared the stage with many notable national acts including current powerhouses Five Finger Death Punch, Halestorm, Alter Bridge, Hinder, and Black Stone Cherry, to classic rock acts like Dokken, Nelson, Great White, Sebastian Bach, Warrant, Skid Row, and Lita Ford. Veilside is a very strong supporter of children's charities, having donated time and money to the Kelsey Briggs Foundation Against Child Abuse, Headstones for Angels, and the National SIDS Organization, as well as hosts the annual "Breaking the Silence" Autism Awareness benefit show which raises funds for autism awareness.  Now in it's SEVENTH year, the event has raised over $68,000 for the cause!

And we're underway......

Things have gotten off to a nice start here at "Camp-Veilside", we had a great kick off show at the end of January, and recently shared the stage with our friends in ROYAL BLISS and ANOTHER LOST YEAR and we're following that up with a trip to one of our favorite clubs - The Music Factory in Battle Creek, this time alongside one of our favorite bands ARTIFAS.  Meanwhile...(get it?) our new single "LEFT TOWN" from the "INTERMISSION" EP was played on 95 WIIL Rock FM as their "Puff or Pass" segment and won over the crowd.  An acoustic song on a hard rock station?  Hey, we're happy about that!!  Later this month we have a benefit show for the Clearbrook Center and to close out February, we're in Wisconsin with SOIL. Next month we share the stage with Geoff Tate (former Queensryche lead vocalist) and his new band OPERATION MINDCRIME.  With all of THAT going on, how could we top it?  Well, we were recently announced on the Cadott Rock Fest with some GREAT bands later this summer!!

We've got some new songs in the works and Sharon is settling in nicely, the plan is to hit the recording studio in early April and release a new single from these writing sessions sometime in May, maybe June.  Check back here for the latest news and some in-studio reports!

2016 - new beginnings!!

We've just completed our marketing meeting for 2016 and we have some great shows in store (you can always check the show calendar to see if we're going to be near you!) Our first show of the year is THIS SATURDAY - a drive to help the homeless in St. Louis, MO, followed by our first headlining "home" show at Q Bar Glendale Heights (formerly Shark City) with our friends in WRECKED and POP MACHINE.  Plans are in the works to get into the studio in early April to record a new single (new tunes!) and we're gearing up for a big year!

End of a trying year!

Well December is upon us, and our final two shows of 2015.  This has been an extremely trying year.....between losing Tommy, releasing INTERMISSION (thanks for all the kind words!!), and adding Sharon, this has been exhaustive!  We have only two shows left this year.  This upcoming weekend we're at The Music Factory in Battle Creek, Michigan and we're bringing some of our Chicago friends with us for a little "invasion" of sorts.  And our last show of 2015 is sharing the stage with the legendary Bret Michaels.  We hope you can join us!!

Thank you to EVERYBODY who helped us through this year.  We've started working on some new songs, and they're coming together quite nicely!!  We're still standing, and we look forward to a great 2016!!

Veilside Announces New Guitarist!

Rather than go through the exhaustive process of open auditions, the band this time put together a very short list of candidates to look at and we are EXTREMELY excited to announce that Veilside has a new guitarist - SHARON CLINE!!   Sharon comes to us from Wisconsin, and has played in bands Skrude Loose and Fortune In Lies.  Her first show with the band was unannounced in Rockford to open for the band FLAW.  The comments after the show were nothing short of amazing, and we know our fans will be just as excited as we were to hear her play!  Please join us in welcoming Sharon to the band!!

Finally some good news!!

Just got the "guest of honor" in last night - our 4th CD - INTERMISSION!!  The CD release party is Sat Sept 26th at HOME Bar in Arlington Heights!!
We'll also be previewing a track from INTERMISSION on Tuesday September 22nd so come right back here!

So we haven't posted to the site in awhile, a product of our busy-as-all-get-out schedule and making the new CD, INTERMISSION.  But today, the news just hurts.  We are saddened to report that guitarist Tom Finnelly passed away unexpectedly last night.  Tom was only 44 years old.  He'd been with us for just about one year, and now he's gone.  We're all in shock over this development, and we hope to have more news for everyone soon, but please join us in wishing Tom's family - his wife Laura and two children - our deepest condolences.  We miss him already.....

Gone, but not forgotten.......Thanks, Tom.....

What day is it?

So things have been absolutely hectic here at "Camp Veilside" - our summer show schedule is in full swing, and we've made great progress on our upcoming CD "Intermission"  (seriously, can NOT wait til you hear this!) and in the middle of all of this, drummer Ron Thomas and his wife Jean, along with Dan Engel, lead vocalist Tony Engel's brother stopped at New Horizon Center to make the first donation from our Breaking the Silence event from April.  We are so honored that we were able to make a large donation to the school (really - we were jacked that BTS 1 brought in $1,000!!) and it's extremely humbling to see how this event has grown.  Over 100 bands submitted to share the stage with us and this has become one of the biggest local band shows of the year.

We hope that BTS 8 can be even bigger (although we keep saying "how the heck do we top THAT?"  we keep doing it!).  Hope everyone has an awesome summer and make sure you make it out to catch a Veilside show or three!!  - The guys.

And now for something a little different.....

This year has absolutely blown by!  Our autism awareness fundraiser, Breaking the Silence 7 (7 years?  Already?) raised over $15,000 for the cause, bringing our seven year total to $68,000.  Thank you to all of the amazing bands, volunteers, and fans that came out to support such a wonderful event!  This thing gets bigger every year, and we're honored to be surrounded by such caring people!  Here's a shot from BTS 7

Afterwards, we made a trip out to Jackson, MI to play at The Foundry for a National Kidney Foundation fundraiser and then over to Route 20 Outhouse in Sturtevant, WI to help our friends in Circleswitch kick off their CD release party in style.  Finally, we hit Schaumburg, IL for a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser.  And now......we're off for the next few weeks to get back to work on our 4th CD.  We pick it back up over Memorial Day weekend as we head to The Back Bar to open the show for BOBAFLEX (and if you haven't heard them, go to youtube and check out their version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic "Sound of Silence").  Hope to see everyone out at a show!!

Been a long time......

Things have been absolutely hectic here at "Camp Veilside".  Last weekend we played at Hollywood Casino Joliet as finalists for a "Battle of the Bands" contest sponsored by classic rock station WLUP (The Loop).  We ended up winning, and will be kicking off one of The Loop's concerts this summer!    Here's a shot of us and Lynsey Marie, WLUP afternoon host.

And now that we're getting into our April schedule, that means BREAKING THE SILENCE time!!  We're excited about a great lineup, but here's a snapshot of our April calendar, so we hope to see you out at a show!!

Waiting for warmer weather!!

So our show schedule has gotten underway, and this past weekend saw two all ages shows, which we absolutely love because it allows our entire families to come out.  We're about a third of the way through the upcoming acoustic disc (which will be called "Intermission") and we're gearing up for the biggest show of the year that we host and headline - Breaking the Silence.  So a lot going on!!  We've had quite a few fans jump on the road with us, and that makes those trips extra special, since funny stories from "the road" have more witnesses!!  We've also got some very cool shows coming up - including opening for "SIster Mary" of Queensryche fame Pamela Moore, Jack Russell's Great White, and Brother Cain's Damon Johnson!!   Here's a shot from the Clearbrook Benefit show at HOME Bar, courtesy of Kasia Olejnik.  Hope to see you guys out at a show, and stay tuned for updates from the recording studio!!
